What is Youth Enterprise Camp?

Youth Enterprise Camp LogoDuring "Youth Enterprise Camp" campers learn about entrepreneurship through a variety of games and activities and have the opportunity to run their own "Business for a Day".  Teen campers also prepare and complete a business plan as part of the weeklong camp. The objectives of the camp are to:

  • Provide youth and teens with a fun and exciting introduction to the world of entrepreneurship
  • Enable teens to complete a business plan, and both youth and teens to start, run and close down their business in one day
  • Encourage campers to see entrepreneurship as a future viable career option.

 

What will you do at Youth Enterprise Camp?

As a camper, you spend five days making new friends and enjoying summer activities all the while learning about the world of business.  As a novice entrepreneur, you will get a chance to start your very own business taking your product from conception to market and even making a little money during "Business for a Day."

Shhhh....PARENTS ONLY:

Mom and Dad... in addition to a great camp experience, your child will participate in the following business activities....

  • Teamwork - learn how to work in a group
  • Entrepreneurship - learn about the business world
  • Business planning  - learn the steps to developing a business
  • Supplies and Purchasing - know what you need and how to get it
  • Financing - meet the banker and negotiate a loan
  • Production - here's where the rubber hits the road
  • Marketing - learn the value of sales

Who runs Youth Enterprise Camp?

The Community Futures Development Corporations in North-eastern Ontario have collaborated to create this youth experience.  With the help of our generous sponsors, we are offering this unique opportunity to young people in our region.  It is our hope that, by instilling an entrepreneurial spirit in our northern youth, we will lay the foundation for a healthy economy.
